Tournesol Proprietor’s Blend is grown at our estate vineyards located on a gently sloping hillside 300 feet above the valley floor, with soil comprised of fractured volcanic rock. This blend is composed of the 5 Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Tournesol vines enjoy cool breezes from the San Francisco Bay which provide ideal temperatures for gentle ripening. Since the first harvest in 2004, the blend varies depending on the growing season, development through fermentation, and barrel aging. Our flagship wine is known for its vibrant aromatics, freshness, intense color and concentration, complexity, and balance. Tournesol Proprietor’s Blend is enjoyable upon release, or if preferred, ages gracefully for 10-15 years.
Tournesol Cabernet Sauvignon is made from a select barrel lot, most often from a single block in our Stream Vineyard which consistently yields outstanding Cabernet grapes. The first vintage of our 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was 2005, and in most years since, we have had the opportunity to bottle a limited quantity of an exceptional expression of varietal, vineyard and our unique terroir. This wine is a stellar example of Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon. It is deep, rich and full bodied with structure and elegance that is beautiful upon release or after 10-15 years in the bottle.
Tournesol Sauvignon Blanc-Sémillon was first produced in 2011 as an homage to the white wines of the Bordeaux region. Sauvignon Blanc with the addition of Sémillon produces a wine that is fresh and bright with a rich, opulent palate. Citrus, gooseberry, and passionfruit qualities are balanced by nuances of honey, floral aromatics, and minerality, resulting in a distinctive and versatile wine. We source Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the highly acclaimed Farina Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain. East facing, sun swept, and breezy with well-draining rocky soils, slope, and elevation make this site superb for the Clone 1 and Musque it yields. The Sémillon is grown in a small block of ## rows planted at our Stream Vineyard.
Tournesol Rosé is made from 100% Grenache. It is cultivated and harvested specifically for our rosé, picked at lower brix and vinified using a whole cluster, direct press style. This process yields a rosé of unmatched elegance and grace with depth, aroma, and subtle complexity. The Provisor Vineyard is a storybook, organically farmed, 3-acre estate just outside the town of Healdsburg in the famed Lytton Springs District. The Tablas Creek clone D Grenache on 110 R rootstock is planted in north-south rows on a gently sloping hillside. This Grenache is well suited to the prized red gravely clay loam soils, and the classic warm days and cool nights of Dry Creek result in bright, fresh fruit that achieves ripeness while preserving acid and tannin for a spectacular and sophisticated rosé.
